This guy should have the book thrown at him if the allegations are correct. (I'm not doubting they are-- I'm just feeling all lawyery) I can't say any of this is really surprising, but still. What an asshole.
This has no reflection on Obama. Thank god they were aware of the investigation and proceeded cautiously, because otherwise something innocuous could have been portrayed differently. In any case, you just know some conservative zealot(s) is going to pull this out for years to come, associating Obama to it.I thought it was pretty clear from all the articles and the press conference that Obama and his team are implicated in any of this.
They couldn't well just ignore Blag, that would have been odd in and of itself. But it makes it clear that while they were discussing candidates with him they weren't doing anything illegal.Thank God they busted Blago before any Obama advisor was caught horse-trading. This doesn't make Obama look bad in that he's seen as wanting Jarrett appointed without any conditions attached. Of course, the whole "corrupt Chicago/Illinois" stink doesn't help Obama, but on the whole this isn't too bad. It seems pretty contained to Blago and his advisors.
Cons: I call evil conspiracy
